This three-day instructor-led course provides students with a first look at the features of Metro style apps development for Windows 8. Students will gain familiarity with Windows 8 and learn how to successfully create, publish and monetize their applications to the Windows Store. This course provides hands-on opportunities to implement WinRT APIs using WinJS, to manage the Metro style app lifecycle, and to develop Metro style apps that target multiple device types, screen resolutions and view states.


This lab collection is based on the Windows 8 Release Preview release of Windows 8 and Release Preview release of Visual Studio 2012. The subsequent releases of Microsoft products could include updates that are not represented in this training product.

Requisitos previos

Before attending this course, students must have:

* 1-2 years of experience in creating applications with HTML5, JavaScript, and CSS3 

* Experience with the following:

* Modern graphical interfaces

* Object Oriented Programming

* Simple data access (CRUD)

* General understanding of the Visual Studio IDE and .NET


This course is intended for professional developers who have experience in programming in HTML5, JavaScript, and CSS3.


Módulo 1 Introduction to Windows 8 and Metro style Apps UI Principles

This module describes the Windows 8 Operating System (OS), Metro style app User Interface (UI), and the new User Experience (UX) concepts included in Windows 8. This module also explains development option for developing Metro style apps by using HTML5 and JavaScript.

Módulo 2 Overview of the WinJS Library

This module describes the WinJS library and many of its controls. You will learn about the ListView control, which can be used to implement list and grid scenarios in Metro style apps. You will also learn about the AppBar control, which is used to create application menus in a Metro style app.

Módulo 3 Implementing Device Orientation, Snap View, and Semantic Zoom

This module describes several visual behaviors of Metro style apps, such as device orientation, Snap view and Semantic Zoom. Understanding these behaviors is essential for creating a compatible user experience in your application.

Módulo 4 Integrating with the Windows 8 Experiences

This module describe charms and the charms bar. This module also explains search contracts, share contracts, and settings contracts.

Módulo 5 Process Lifetime Management

This module describes the new lifecycle model of Windows 8 which focuses on the foreground applications, which means that most of the resources of the OS are dedicated to the foreground application, ensuring excellent user experience.

Módulo 6 Implementing Tiles and Notifications

This module will show and explain the design concepts of Tiles and Notifications, including Toast notifications.

This module describes how Windows 8 utilizes the modern hardware and addresses Natural User Interface, such as working with gestures, panning and zooming, capture and play media, and creating Hybrid apps. Using these abilities is essential for creating natural user experience in your application.

Módulo 8 Introduction to Microsoft Store
